Building and Construction Training Subsidies
The Building and Construction Industry Training Fund (BCITF) supports the training of eligible people in the building and construction industry.
The goals of the BCITF are to
improve the quality of training and to increase the number of skilled workers
in the building and construction industry.
The BCITF collects a small training levy from all construction projects
in Western Australia
and the funds received from the collection of the training levy go back to the
industry to support training and skills development.
The BCITF Construction Skills
Program provides subsidies of up to 80% of course costs for courses that
develop, maintain or improve skills relevant to employment in the building and
construction industry.
To receive the BCITF training subsidy a trainee must be:
- Currently employed in the building and construction industry in WA and on completion of the course, must intend to continue working in the building and construction industry.
- If unemployed, be able to demonstrate that they were directly employed in the building and construction industry in WA on a full-time basis within the previous 12 months from the date of course commencement; or
- Where no recent work experience is involved have written evidence of an employment offer from a construction company or contractor in the building and construction industry and be undertaking a course of training that is specific to the building and construction industry and has no application to other industries.
Upon course completion employers and individuals can make claims for subsidies direct form BCITF.
- The BCITF reserves the right to the final determination of eligibility for subsidies under any of the Fund’s training programs.
