Sourcing and manufacturing of pressurised thermal heat plant is a complex business often involving critical welding techniques, heat treatments and stringent quality control.

Managed by RCR Energy’s Manufacturing Division, production of boilers, pressure and heat transfer equipment takes place in dedicated company facilities and in sub-contractor workshops in Australia, New Zealand, and overseas.

Many of the large boiler components are fabricated in RCR’s modern facility in Dannevirke, New Zealand.

As with all of RCR Energy facilities, this workshop operates under an ISO 9001 certified quality system. Automation and appropriate tooling plays a large part in producing repeatable top quality products, time after time. RCR’s in-house facilities are equipped with the latest techniques such as orbital welding, CNC machining and cutting equipment.

The Dannevirke fabrication plant incorporates the following capabilities:

  • 12m x 3m plate cutting centre, plasma, gas, etch mark & pilot drilling
  • 3m plate rolls x 32mm
  • 1600A submerged arc shell fabrication station
  • 500T hot forming press
  • Drum drilling, 2 x radial arm 2m
  • Membrane panel welding
  • CNC tube bending, swaging, hot closing
  • Heat treatment furnace 6.5 x 4.0 x 4.0
  • High bay assembly shop, 8m under hooks, 2 x 20 tonne gantry cranes capacity
  • 40 semi automatic welding machines, ESAB, Lincoln STT etc
  • Support machine shop.

To maintain a leading role in the energy industry, RCR Energy Manufacturing has formed strong alliances with established offshore boiler component suppliers who “build to print” components designed by RCR.
