Erect and dismantle scaffodling - Basic

Unit Code: BCGSC2002B

This unit specifies the competency required to erect and dismantle a range of modular scaffolding systems to provide work platforms for construction purposes.


The scope of work for this certificate is scaffolding work associated with:

  • Prefabricated scaffolds
  • Cantilevered hoist with a working load limit not exceeding 500kg (materials only)
  • Ropes
  • Gin wheels
  • Safety nets and static lines
  • Bracket scaffolds (tank and formwork)
  • Inspection of fall restraint equipment

Scaffolds from which a person or object could fall no more than 4m at any stage, do not require certificates to erect, alter or dismantle.



  • Course duration: 3 days
  • Training outcome: Basic Scaffolding Statement of Attainment and WorkSafe High Risk Work Licence
  • Prerequisites: minimum 18 years of age

The Basic Scaffolding competency does not have a height restriction, but erected scaffold of 30 metres or more, must be assessed and approved by a qualified engineer prior to use.
