Safety, Health, Environment & Quality Co-ordinator (Pilbara, WA)

THE OPPORTUNITY
The SHEQ Coordinator role is responsible for managing the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) requirements for RCR Resources’ operations in the Pilbara, including all RCR personnel, contractors and visitors.

Reporting to the North West Regional Manager, you will have the opportunity to work in a cooperative and consultative environment and you will be responsible for developing a safety culture amongst all stakeholders and implementing the RCR Resources SHEQ Management systems, whilst ensuring compliance with legislation and Codes of Practice.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this role you will be responsible for:
• Ensuring the implementation and maintenance of safe working practices and procedures.
• Providing adequate instruction and assistance to the RCR management team to assist the reduction of all Injuries to as low as reasonably practical.
• Managing and maintaining a safe working environment by providing accurate and concise Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality training to meet the requirement of the RCR Integrated Management system and OS&H legislation and Mining Legislation.
• Ensuring the appropriate functions within the SAP system are utilised to provide for the accurate compilation of statistical Lead and Lag Indicators and Incident Reporting.
• Maintaining and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement of the Integrated Management System to ensure the System complies with AS/NZS 4801 or OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001. ISO 9001:2008, through adherence to audit schedule.
• Maintaining and auditing the RCR  Safety, Health, Environment, Quality Management Systems at each related location to ensure employees, clients and visitors comply with the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures at all times.
• Actively managing the processes for Quality compliance, ensuring the RCR CAPA system is utilised for tracking non compliance and areas of improvement and monitoring the time management aspect of CAPA to ensure corrective and preventative actions are appropriate and verified for effectiveness.
• Conducting planned and random HSE inspections of workplace equipment and facilities.
• Investigating incidents, identifying root causes and SMART corrective actions.
• Ensuring risk assessments, SWMS and JHEAs are completed for applicable tasks and activities.
• Providing HSE and risk management advice to frontline supervision and the workforce.
• Mentoring junior supervision and workgroups.
 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
To be considered for this role, you MUST have:
• Minimum a Diploma in OSH.
• Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training
• A minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role with a major Client or Contractor organisation.
• Strong understanding of relevant OH&S State and Federal regulatory requirements.
• Experience coordinating and delivering site HSE programs and campaigns.
• Proven problem solving ability with a solutions orientation.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.
• Demonstrated computer and report writing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to investigate and make appropriate recommendations in relation to issues, incidents and hazards.
• The ability self-supervise and be a self-starter.
• A ‘hands on’ consultative management approach and the demonstrated ability to implement SHEQ Policies and Procedures.
• Strong commitment to the development of a safe working culture.

 

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
• Construction, heavy engineering /manufacturing background desirable.
• The confidence and experience to present to Senior Management and Sub Contractors.
• Internal Auditor Qualification
• Superior knowledge of AS/NZS ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AS/NZS 4801 and/or OHSAS 18001

This is a hands-on position; expect to be involved in the day to day running of SHEQ operations within the Pilbara facilities.
