Refrigeration/HVAC Service Technician (Karratha, WA)

As such we are seeking applications from driven and competent Refrigeration/HVAC Service Technicians to join our talented team.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Refrigeration/HVAC Service Technician to work with our Western Australia Haden Division. This will be a challenging and rewarding role which forms an integral part of our Western Australia business.

Karratha has an energetic and progressive vibe, a wealth of natural resources, rich natural gas reserves off the coast behind the islands of the Dampier Archipelago and is the busy centre of the Pilbara district. It is a modern town in the Pilbara region of Western Australia and located only 9 km north of the Tropic of Capricorn and approximately 1,550 km north of Perth. The spectacular beauty of this land boasts hidden waterholes, gorges and tranquil rock pools, layers of rock caused by massive ancient geological forces, beautiful white-barked coolabah trees, wildflowers and panoramic views.  Its facilities, recreational activities, stunning beaches, fishing and snorkelling are just some of the reasons Karratha's facilities, year-round summers and bustling country town atmosphere make it a perfect place to live and to explore the amazing National Parks.


Reporting to the Branch Manager this role will be based in Karratha and will oversee the effective diagnosis of problems and performing work of a technical nature on chillers and air conditioning systems.

The primary responsibilities of this role will include, but are not limited to:


  • Service and preventative maintenance, with some travel required;
  • Chillers;
  • Diagnose faults;
  • Perform breakdown repairs;
  • Preventative maintenance;
  • Establish and maintain long-term client relationships;
  • Pro-actively address customer complaints;
  • Participate in minor work projects as required.


To be considered for this role you will possess the following experience and personal qualities:


  • Demonstrated history of success in a technical Refrigeration/HVAC Service Technician capacity;
  • A solid understanding of air conditioning principles and systems together with the relevant codes and industry standards which govern their installation and maintenance;
  • Considerable experience working with chillers and in breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance;
  • Offshore oil and Gas experience highly regarded;
  • A current ARC refrigerant handling licence;
  • A current Australian State restricted or full Electrical Licence;
  • A current, valid "C" grade Driver's Licence;
  • Refrigeration and air conditioning trade qualifications;
  • Minimum five years' experience in chillers, breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance;
  • Offer a value-add customer service second-to-none;
  • Team player;
  • Professionalism;
  • A good understanding of safety;
  • Capacity to work on a full-time permanent hire basis and a 5-day, 38-hour week (reasonable overtime expected);
