Chief Estimator (Sydney, NSW)

As such we are seeking applications from a driven and competent Chief Estimator to join our talented team.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chief Estimator to work with our Infrastructure line of business. This will be a challenging and rewarding role which forms an integral part of our business going forward.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager this role will be based in Sydney CBD and will be responsible for leading the estimating function in order for RCR to continue to grow and lead the way in the market. Through managing a team of estimators across the East Coast you will produce estimates and tenders in a timely and accurate manner, whilst fostering relationships with new and existing clients, and providing customer excellence to all internal and external clients.


The primary responsibilities of this role will include, but are not limited to:


•Maintain and develop new relationships with our clients.
•Conduct site inspections and contract negotiations.
•Issue request for quotations for tenders.
•Ensure quality, safety and environmental requirements are accommodated in tender submissions.
•Analyse and comment on proposed commercial terms of projects.
•Perform tender/project risk assessment to determine financial risk.
•Develop cash flow forecasts.
•Undertake tender review meetings.
•Prepare tender submissions, ensuring deadlines are met.
•Regularly review tender process to identify opportunities for improvement.
•Provide customer excellence to all internal and external clients.
•Ensure the appropriate documentation regarding legal review, tender review are completed in organised manner within the parameters of the tendering period.
•Ensure timesheets are completed for all Proposal department personnel and provided to payroll within the required timeframe.
•Work with the Tender Coordinator to ensure all documentation is completed correctly in a timely and organised fashion and all tender approvals are completed and filed accordingly.

To be considered for this role you will possess the following experience and personal qualities:


•Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline or a Trades Certificate.
•Knowledge and understanding of project scheduling.
•Minimum 10 years’ experience in the construction, building or mining industry with sound costing analytical skills.
•Proficient in planning, organising and working to time lines.
•Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
•Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
•Clear understanding of appropriate Australian Codes and Standards and OH&S codes and standards.
•Ability to respond to a changing work environment.
•Ability to work in a team environment.
•Ability to work unsupervised with customers coupled with excellent customer service and negotiation skills.
•Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
•Experience with WINEST estimating tools, MSP or similar scheduling tools and with SharePoint highly desirable.
•Current driver’s license.
