Novo Rail is an alliance between Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW), RCR, Aurecon and Laing O’Rourke. Since 2009, the works have delivered over AUD 1 billion worth of upgraded infrastructure to the rapidly growing Sydney rail network.
Novo Rail specialises in complex, multi-disciplinary Brownfield projects. The Alliance handles projects ranging from minor works through to complex design and construction packages. These works are undertaken within a live railway environment and during weekend closures. Works include station upgrades, track renewal, signalling upgrades, substations, HV feeder works, depot upgrades and overhead wiring and support structures.
Novo Rail were responsible for the delivery of key power supply upgrade projects which included the 2017 overhead wiring works that enabled the introduction of the new Sydney Trains timetable. The works were successfully completed against a tight program and in collaboration with TfNSW and Sydney Trains.
In December 2017, Novo Rail achieved practical completion on the Wynyard Station Upgrade Project with the reopening of the York Street lobby and escalators which included the critically acclaimed “Interloop” art installation by artist Chris Fox.
Novo Rail recently completed the upgrade of Hornsby Junction which is considered to be the most complex junction upgrade project delivered in Australia within the past two decades. These multifaceted works were completed on time and within the client’s budget.
